Golf Course Architect: Robert Trent Jones II

Scope: Master planning and site planning

Description: Failaka Island is located just off the coast of Kuwait in the Persian Gulf.  This large-scale planning project sets out to create a national and international world class destination. This master plan establishes several very different but cohesive places of interest on the island with vibrant corridors that will transform the currently barren landscape through restoration of the island’s history and culture. The client’s vision included an island that would be free of cars for visitors to enhance the unique experience.

Championship and resort quality courses were integrated within the broad range of island features such as residential, hotel, entertainment, recreation and event areas.  Careful consideration was given to water consumption as well as the enhancement and restoration of the natural desert landscape.
